What is Compare Ethics?
Compare Ethics is a technology business that checks a brand’s product data to ensure that products have a lower impact on people and the planet.
The Compare Ethics team is made up of impact data experts, academics, and lawyers so that you can shop lower impact items with confidence.
How does it work?
The technology verifies supply chain data to check that the product has a lower impact when compared to an average alternative.
What data is verified?
The Compare Ethics technology verifies lots of different data types from the supply chain. This includes, but is not limited to: certifications, standards, life cycle assessments, product compositions and audits.
The technology checks that the data is accurate and ensures the data is linked to a specific product. It also ensures that Reiss is compliant with the UK Government’s Green Claims Code (GCC) – see here for more information the GCC.
What makes Compare Ethics credible?
Compare Ethics is an independent company that is committed to data driven transparency. The team has spent years working with academics, lawyers, and data teams to ensure that brands are correctly communicating their impact on people and the planet.
However, just like all organisations, Compare Ethics is not best placed to judge its own outputs. So, to make sure they are accurate, the team has an Advisory Council made up of global legal and policy leaders to check the technology does what it says on the tin. They also work closely with governments across the world to ensure that businesses they work with are complying with the rules.
